Apple Faces Yet Another Class Action Law Suit
For the worlds sake I hope that congress passes the bill protecting fast food restaurants from being sued by neglectful, overweight, pass-the-buck type customers. It just seems like everyone is out to make a quick buck and not truly help consumers.
And, if you haven’t heard yet, lawyers filed a class action lawsuit against Apple for its Nano scratch issue this week. The suit alleges that Apple “violated state consumer protection statutes, as well as express and implied warranties. The complaint charges that Apple knew that there were design problems with the Nano.” The suit claims that the Nano’s scratches way to easily and renders the tiny MP3 player useless.
Apple claims that the same polycarbonate material used in past iPods was used on the Nano. But the suit charges “that the Nano contains a thinner coating of resin than on previous iPod models.”
Issues about the iPod Nano began to surface shortly after its release claiming not only ease-of-scratching, but defective screens.
According to Apple they sold 1 million iPod Nanos during its first 17 days on the market.
I guess where there is an opportunity, or money in this case, people shall sue. Does Apple deserve to get sued? Yes, if they were neglectful in their manufacturing process and decisively cut back on manufacturing quality to cut cost. But I in fact believe consumer became much more aware of the scratches due to the black finish. If you have ever owned a black vehicle, or had black countertops then you will know what I mean. Either way you cut it, a bunch of lawyers are gonna get rich and few consumers will get $25 back if they’re lucky.
